The junction between the original (yellow hand rail) and extended (white hand rail) parts of the station footbridge at Filton Abbey Wood. When the third track and platform was added in 2004 for trains heading towards South Wales the original path was torn up and the footbridge extended over the new track and along the embankment.

When the third track and platform at Filton Abbey Wood station was added in 2004 for trains heading towards South Wales the original path from the car park was torn up and the footbridge extended over the new track and along the embankment. Filton Abbey Wood station viewed from the top of the ramp to platform 1. Platform 1, nearest the camera, is for all southbound services. Platform 2, the next one over is served by trains heading northbound via Bristol Parkway; in the background the relatively new platform 3 takes trains heading for South Wales.

Filton Abbey Wood station viewed from the approach footpath. The section of the bridge nearest the camera and those parts with white hand rails was added in 2004 when the third line (nearest the camera) was added to increase capacity by splitting northbound services heading via Bristol Parkway from those heading to South Wales. Before that the path from the car park ran at ground level from the back of platform 2.

Before that the path from the car park ran at ground level from the back of platform 2. The ramp with yellow handrails to platforms 2 and 3 (originally just platform 2) is original to the contstruction of the station, which is contemporary with the openeing of the large MOD complex in the background.

Filton Abbey Wood station viewed from the approach footpath. The white line visible between the tracks dates from when this stretch of tarmac was a combined footpath and cycle track from the car park to the station, before the construction of the line in the foreground and third platform, when the path on the right of shot was constructed.

Filton Abbey Wood station viewed from the southern end of platfom 1. Unlike at most stations, and indeed all the other platform ends at this station, the notice prohibiting passengers from walking beyond the specified point is located at the bottom rather than top of the ramp to track level.

The railway line north of Filton Abbey Wood station viewed from the halfway landing on the ramp between the footbrdige and platforms 2 and 3. I'm not sure what the point of this very short siding is, but I presume it was truncated when the original path to the station was constructed (this followed the line of the concrete blocks, and was removed when the line on the left of the picture was constructed in 2004).
