Talyllyn Railway. #1 "Talyllyn" a Fletcher Jennings 0-4-2ST built in 1865, on its train at Towyn Wharf Station in June 1973. This was one of the original locomotives built for the Talyllyn.
Scanned from a slide made on a miniature pocket camera, it is the only one I have of engine #1.

Talyllyn Railway. #3 "Sir Haydn" a Hughes 0-4-2ST built in 1878, for the Corris Railway, being serviced at the engine shed located at Towyn Pendre Station in June 1971. Sir Haydn Jones was the MP for the area and owner of the TR for many years. His story is best told at http://www.talyllyn.co.uk/history.html

Talyllyn Railway. #4 "Edward Thomas" a Kerr Stuart 0-4-2ST built in 1921, for the Corris Railway, drifts downhill into Dolgoch Falls Station in June 1971.
The Talyllyn preservation scheme in 1951 was the first in the UK and proved that enthusiasts could maintain and operate a steam railway. In 2001 the Talyllyn celebrates the 50th Anniversary of UK Railway Preservation, see their website http://www.talyllyn.co.uk/

Built by Hughes of Loughborough (at Falcon Works, later Brush) in 1878 for the Corris Railway, whose livery it carries here.
