Isle of Wight Steam Railway - UK Class 05 diesel shunter D2554 was used on the Isle of Wight for electrification and maintenance duties from 1966. It is currently on display in the Train Story Discovery Center. Havenstreet, 18-05-2023 Photo by Marco van Uden |
D2554 was built in the mid 1950s and later became a class 05. This loco first arrived on the IoW in 1966 to help with the
electrification of the line and joined the Steam Railway in 1984. It is known as 'Nuclear Fred'. Also visible is an Andrew
Barclay 0-4-0 shunter built in 1945 thats unofficially named 'Mavis'.
