This is L11 which worked as the Acton Works shunter in 1964 until it was
surplus there and transferred to Ruislip in June 1989. It was stored in 1991
and joined the LU Heritage fleet which never got off the ground. An
arrangement between London Underground and Cravens Heritage Trains
allowed it ti be moved to its new home at Epping in 2004 for external
restoration as a static exhibit adjacent to Epping Signal Cabin.
HISTORIC NOTE. The first Tube trains to run on the Central Line via Loughton to Epping in 1948 would have been of a similar appearence to this. This picture taken in August 2006 shows the shunter being restored to its maroon livery,

Last year when we saw the Silver Sandite Train it looked and sounded its age....would it return we wondered
and the answer is yes! Not only has it been given an overhaul but also a new smart corporate look and called
the RAIL ADHESION TRAIN. It is seen here running into Woodford Station on the eastern end of the Central Line
on the 30th October 2009.

SATURDAY 11th MARCH 2006 1645. This is the scene looking down at Chigwell Station on London
Underground's Central Line as the work of track re-laying is taking place. It is unusual to be
able to be get such good views of this kind of activity and requires suitable nearby bridges.

Looking as if they have had a recent paint job the LT Ballast wagons would appear to be of the 'HW ' type the nearest
one being numbered 207. Photo at Roding Valley on the Central Line during nearby track relaying in March 2006.

Now this is the only one of its kind we believe in existence! This London Underground driving car
which dates possibly from the 1920s was used at some point as a shunter at Acton Depot.
It is now owned by a group who are in the process of restoring it externally. It is seen
here parked just outside Epping Station on the Central Line on the 1Oth October 2004.

Its unusual to see non-passenger stock running on the London Underground during
the day and well worth making the effort to picture especially as this Cravens T.R. Unit
is down for re-placement. Pictured departing Loughton for Epping on May 4th 2005.

Now who gets up early on a Sunday morning hoping to see some London Underground engineering trains on the MOVE for once? We do! And did they show up...NO. At least there were some alongside the station though to picture. This is Battery Loco No 21 and at the other end will be a similar one as they operate in 'top and tail' mode. The place is Woodford on the Central Line and the date is the 6th July 2003.

This we understand is MaK Diesel that originally was used on the Jubilee Line Extension. They are now part of London Underground's engineering fleet, though quite how much use they get we are not sure. This one No10 was pictured at Woodford on the Central Line in late Winter 2001.
