507009, (64375-71350-64413), is seen here wearing the second of Merseyrail's corporate liveries, the 'Revised' livery. When overhauled, the 19 sets painted into this livery were given a lighter shade of yellow and had the broad black stripe removed, which had been prone to wear when graffiti was removed. It is photographed at Wallasey Grove Road station, one of the more peaceful stations on the Wirral side of the Mersey. Southport station is arguably the most impressive on the network, and plays host to 507012 and 508140 in this photograph. 508140 will form the 11:58 to Hunts Cross, 507012 the 12:13. 507012 was formerly a member of the 'Revised' fleet, while 508140 was in the original black and grey variant. The photograph of 507012 and 508140 demonstrates the 'normal' appearance of the refurbished units, but there were two single units which emerged different to the rest; although slight, there are both immediately noticeable. Here is first refurbished unit, 508110, photographed at Moorfields station working the 14:26 to Chester. The unit has a yellow 'eyebrow' appearance at the top, and the steps at the bottom of the front end are painted black as opposed to yellow in the rest of the fleet. Over the wall at Euston, Monday lunchtime 7th March 2005. Class 508 unit no. 508302 (formerly 508135) enters from the north. The 508s first appeared as 4-car units on the South Western division of Southern Region. They were all transferred to Merseyside as part of the electrification scheme, but not before each unit had left one intermediate trailer behind.
