A class 325 unit goes through Kensington Olympia in 2003. These units are apparently owned
by Royal Mail and will shortly find themselves without work despite not being that old. They can
operate off both AC overhead supply and as seen here third rail DC.

Royal Mail trains like these three Class 325 EMUs (with 325016 at the rear) heading north through Crewe railway station are much rarer than they were a few years ago.

EWS Class 325, 4-car, 25kV a.c O/H or 750V d.c 3rd-rail Mail EMU. 325016 stands at Tyne Yard on Sat 5th June 1999. These units are capable of running under their own power of 25kV a.c from OHL equipment, 750V d.c 3rd-rail equipment and also capable of being hauled by a diesel locomotive/unit thus making these the most versatile of EMU's.

Well mail has returned to the rails but only using these Royal Mail owned GBRf operated
class 325 units. Sometimes however they are class 87 hauled and GBRf has acquired
a number of these locos for this and presumably other tasks. The date is June
8th 2005 and the place Carpenders Park.
