Preserved EMU 306 017 occasionally gets out onto the main line as it did in the Spring of 2002.
It is seen here at Shenfield shortly before returning to London Liverpool Street.

306 017 forms a normal service train from Shenfield to Liverpool Street in the Spring of 2002.
You can imagine the surprise on the faces of regular passengers as they are also able to experience a trip back in time
along with railway enthusiasts like ourselves.

306 017 prepares to depart from Stratford. Regular passengers have at times to be convinced that they can get onto this historic unit
but having done so often look pleased and admire the way trains used to be built inside. One of the few complaints
about the recently introduced 360s is that the seats are too hard...not something you could accuse the old 306 of having!
