The unique 89001 at the Doncaster open day 1994 in Intercity livery. This locomotive was at the time owned by a group of Brush engineers. However GNER has now brought this locomotive and it can be seen operating services between London and Leeds. The locomotive has been repainted into GNER livery.

Unique Class 89 locomotive 89001 poses conveniently next to an example of GNER's standard motive power, the Class 91. The 89 is used only on Leeds and Bradford services; it is not passed for the route to Edinburgh and Glasgow.

working in Spetember. This is the sole example of this Co-Co design

89001 is an unique loco that has only had a short mainline career. Built in 1987 it was acquired by GNER but following a series of maintenance problems
that became increasingly difficult to cure being a one-off, it was eventually retired a year or so ago. It is unlikely
to see any further service, but may possibly go for preservation.
