Class 87s have only rarely been seen on the East Coast Main Line but this is the second one to appear in less than a week! 87002 heads north through Alexandra Palace with a mail train that normally would use the West Coast route on the 18th April 2006. This train is likely to return to unit operation soon when repairs to traction motors on the 325s are complete. We have not had a good opportunity to picture 87002 on a train since we first saw it displayed at Crewe in May 2003. This is also the first time we could picture the 'other side' ...you decide which one you prefer best! It took us pleasantly by surprise as we waited at South Kenton on the 29th January 2004.
