87019 has been put into this smart livery by LNWR at Crewe to mark the end of 87s on the WCML. With the requirement for the class much reduced appearences have been relatively few so we were pleased to see it arrive and depart from London Euston on a Wolverhampton service on the 26th May 2005.

87019 in its unique livery goes nicely with the Virgin stock. The nameplate for the 'Association of Community Rail Partnerships' is blue on this side...but lime green on the other!! Pictured at London Euston on May 26th 2005.

We will probably not be able to repeat this picture of two class 87s side by side taken at Euston on the 26th May 2005...the locos being 87019 and 87004 respectively.

June 8th 2005 was the perfect Spring day...a real change from the many cool and often cloudy days we had endured...so we decided to go to Carpenders Park and photograph some activity on the West Coast Main Line. It was as it happened a very wise decision as only two days later Virgin West Coast were to cease using class 87s and this was the last day we could see both 87019 and 87012 in action in one afternoon.

Here we see 87019...unusually at the London end of the train...nearing the end of its journey south with one of the last class 87 hauled Wolverhampton to Euston trains. The loco has since been acquired by GBRf so hopefully we will have an opportunity to see it again but its days of main line express services are likely to be over.
