Usually 87s push their trains to London however on this ocassion there was a problem with the DVT so the loco was placed at the head. Taken in August 1998.

87 021 Hal o' the Wynd looks a little under-the-wynd in this picture taken
in Glasgow Central. Note the chunks of paint falling off one side and the
use of fillers to retain metal bits which may have otherwise fallen off

I like this shot, not because it is good shot - I can see many faults with it - but it juxtaposes two of the premier locomotives of the West Coast Mainline, an electric and a Duchess (technically a Coronation Pacifc), if it was any good I would call this shot 'Queens of the WCML'
