Some pictures require you to dash and get in place very quickly....and this was one when it was suddenly realised that there was not one but two 86s on the back. No doubt this has happened previously, but certainly never seen by us. 86215 'The Round Tabler' is doing the work whilst 86250 'Shepherd 100' is taking it easy on ths Norwich bound service. Date April 2003. Place Stratford E.London.

The class 86s on Anglia are in their last year of operation and will slowly be replaced by
ex-Virgin West Coast class 90s from April 2004 onwards when WAGN takes over the New Greater Anglia Franchise. This

Well almost one year after their farewell tour class 86s have now ended their operations on
ONE Anglia London to Norwich Services. The date is September 17th 2005 and 86235 'Crown Point'
is seen passing Pudding Mill on its way into Liverpool Street. We were to follow it in for a run to Colchester.

Just one more London bound 86 hauled Anglia train to come. 86235, which was brought back especially for the occassion,
approaches its London terminus at Pudding Mill on the 17th September 2005.

The 'Cans' or class 86s are just hanging on! 86232 is heading for London Liverpool
Street with a ONE Anglia service from Norwich on the 25th May 2005. 86232 replaced
86235 which requires an exam but thats it now. 86234 returned to traffic briefly in
April but a major failure means almost certainly it will not make another comeback.
The Virgin West Coast 90s brought into replace the 86s are still prone to failing and
there is even the prospect of EWS 90s appearing again as two are currently at Norwich.
The big question is when will the class 86s end their days on this route?

86235 heads for Norwich on the 17th September 2005...FAREWELL to class 86s

With Ipswich Tunnel open again its back to normal at Stratford and there is no better
way of illustrating this than seeing a class 86...in this case 86235 'Crown Point'...heading
to Liverpool Street with a service from Norwich on a beautifully sunny September 9th 2004.

Get them whilst you can...'ONE' Anglia class 86's are on the wayout as they are to be replaced
by class 90s. This one 86242 is seen on a delightful Spring day...24th April 2004...bringing its
London bound train through Stratford.

Despite their Anglia 'Farewell Tour' being last October class 86s are still appearing on
'ONE' Norwich services in 2005. Seen here is 86232 that has just made a comeback at the
expense of 86246 which suffered a transformer failure. However 86235 is also running and
this they may well soon be joined by 86234. The place as usual is Stratford and the date
January 13th 2005 as this London bound train heads for Liverpool Street in the late afternoon sun.

Well the 86s are coming to the end of a career lasting almost 40 years so this sight of
two at London's Liverpool Street Station on the 25th June 2004 will become increasingly
rare. Like any threatened species they get photgraphed whenever the opportunity presents
itself so 86227 'Golden Jubilee' alongside 86232 'Norfolk and Norwich Festival' was one not to
be missed.

This picture may never be repeated! Taken on August 31st at
London's Liverpool Street Station it shows a colourful line-up of locos
operating 'ONE' services...86232...90006...and 90019. The Anglia class 86s will
soon be going but until then will probably see only limited use. The EWS Res 90 meanwhile has finished on 'ONE'
services and is unlikely to make a return to 'The Street' as EWS class 90s are apparently no longer required.
Soon the 'rainbow' colours of 'ONE' will take over.

Class 86s on Anglia trains are due to have a farewell special run at the end
of October 2004. Whether they will still continue to make appearences after this date
we will have to wait and see...I suspect they just might occasionally.
Here 86230 waits to return to Norwich at Ipswich on the 31st August 2004.

Looking quite immaculate 86246 'Royal Anglian Regiment' prepares to depart fron
Norwich with an Ipswich train on the 31st August 2004.

86246 is pictured at Norwich on the front of this Ipswich train on the 31st August 2004.
Passengers for London would then catch a bus to Manningtree and then resume their train journey
to London. With Anglia class 86s due to be phased out during this Autumn we were happy
to have an opportunity for a run behind this loco.

Almost one year on now from when 'ONE' took over the Greater Anglia Franchise and whats changed?
Some things...but not this! Much to the pleasure of local rail enthusiasts, class 86s or 'Cans' as they
are known as are still out there...well at least two of them are...on London L.S. to Norwich services.
Here 86232 heads for the Capital having made it through the snowfields of East Anglia judging by the
front! The date is March 4th 2005 and the place Stratford E.London.

This is now the second class 86 we have seen today...the 4th March 2005...and only two are currently in service
with 'ONE' Anglia! Here we see 86235 on the last leg of its run to London at Stratford.

86223 'Norwich Union' pushes its Norwich bound train through Stratford on the 29th January 2004.
With the only set of Intercity coaches attached and the snow covered ground it presents quite an unusual sight.

For a short while Anglia 86s ran with a light grey roof as seen in this case with
86218 'NHS 50' pictured in the Summer of 1998.

We have sent in many pictures of class 86s...but never in this location Southend
Victoria as this is a very rare station for the class to visit. The reason is that
86235 'Crown Point' and 86246 'Royal Anglian Regiment' were in
charge of the official 'ONE Farewell 86 Tour'...well not quite as two or three 'Anglia'
class 86s are likely to be around until the end of the year! A non-stop run from
Norwich to London Liverpool Street broke the record for the 114 mile jouney later
in the day and was touching 110 MPH at times. Not bad for a loco aproaching 40 years
old which '235' is. Oh yes the date of this event was Saturday 30th October 2004.
