Central Trains Class 170 DMU 170103 departing Birmingham New Street station to the east - I think the destination was Nottingham via Derby. The livery shows that this is one of the units that was cascaded to Central Trains from Midland Mainline upon the arrival into service of the latter's Class 222 units.

Central Trains servies between Nottingham and Cardiff are normally operated by single two- or three-car Class 170 sets, but today this service was strengthend to five cars with a one two-car and one three-car unit to cater for the extra demand generated by the Rugby Union Heineken Cup final between Munster and Biarritz at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium. In this photograph the train is arriving into platform 3 of Newport station in South Wales with a Nottingham bound service, 3-car 170102 (a unit whose teal livery shows it to be one inherited from Midland Mainline) is leading with 2-car 170523 (in Central Trains' own bright green livery) on the rear.

Central Trains Class 170 DMU 170103 approaches Severn Tunnel Junction station in Rogiet, South Wales with a non-stopping eastbound service to Nottingham via Gloucester and Derby. The teal livery indicates that this unit was originally part of the Midland Mainline fleet.

Central Trains Class 170 DMU 170104 heading westbound on a Nottingham to Cardiff Central services passes an Eastbound First Great Western HST on an express service to London Paddington from Swansea or Cardiff Central a short distance west of Severn Tunnel Junction station in Rogiet, South Wales. Note the Class 960 (former Class 121) Severn Tunnel Emergency train units on the right.

Central Trains class 170 Diesel Multiple Units and a Midland Mainline Class 222 DEMU 222009 at Nottingham Station. The front Central trains unit, looking very tacky, is 170108 while behind it is 170639.
The livery on 170180 is not a standard one for Central Trains, and the colours lead me to suspect it was formerly operated by Midland Mainline, with their branding removed and Central Trains' added.
