This is the last occasion we saw a 205 unit or 'Thumper'...a nickname that reflects their sound...on a
London Bridge to Uckfield service. Like many old trains they are going fast and by now the
only 'Southern DEMU' may by now have had run its last regular servive train and been replaced by class 170s.
A farewell Tour for them is due to run shortly. Picture taken at Honour Oak Park in September 2004.

Although 'Thumpers'...if you heard one you would understand why they are called this...
are soon to come to an end in mainstream use, many will turn up on preserved railways.
This DEMU or 'Hampshire' unit 205025 had only arrived a few days earlier and was soon
put to good use at the Mid-Hants Diesel Gala. Pictured approaching Ropley on the 23rd May 2004.
