Newport station in South Wales - re-engineered First Great Western Class 43 HST powercar 43004 at the head of a scheduled London Paddington to Cardiff or Swansea service is at platform 2. On the right, an Arriva Trains Wales shuttle service between here and Cardiff, top-and-tailed by locomotives, 50049 and 37425 - both in BR Large Logo livery, waits at platform 1 with the Class 50 visible in this photograph. The shuttle service is to cater for the extra demand generated by the Rugby Union Heineken Cup final between Munster and Biarritz at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium.

First Great Western Class 43 First Great Western Class 43 - 43093, one ofa number of power cars re-engined with an MTU 16V4000 R41R engine in place of it's Paxman Valenta 12RP200L engine, stands at Bristol Temple Meads on the morning of Sat 28th May 2007 at 04:41 while preparing to work the 04:50 Bristol TM - London Paddington 'FGW' service. In the middle road can be seen EWS Class 59/2 - 59203 'Vale of Pickering' retting Ready to work the 1Z59 05:09 Bristol TM - Birmingham NS leg of the 'Retro Retracer' Pathfinder Railtour.

The Welsh language nameplate on re-engineerd and reliveried First Great Western Class 43 HST powercar 43004 First ar gyfer y dyfodol. The English language version of the name, First for the Future, is used on the nameplate on the opposite (left) side of the powercar. Photographed at Newport station in South Wales when the HST to which it was attached was working a London Paddington-Swansea Express service.

Passing through Newport station in South Wales, using a line more frequently used by freight services is a First Great Western HST on an extra service to Cardiff Central for Rugby Union's Heineken Cup final between Munster and Biarritz at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium. In the consist of this service were two of the the newly refurbished mark 3 coaches, this is the 1st class carriage (number 41003I think).
