59005 'Kenneth J. Painter' takes its Yeoman aggregates train through Stratford E.London on June 9th 2003. Although the class 59s look superficially similar to class 66s, they are serious heavy freight locos with different GM engines designed specifically for the very heavy nature of their traffic. They have been in the UK since around the mid-1980s and this loco is one of the original five. One of these, 59003, is of course now in Germany with F=ma Heavy Haul Power International.
