A British Rail Class 55 "Deltic" (I did not white down the number, but I recall that this was "Gordon Highlander", beacuae I also photographed the name plate on the carbody side) prepares to depart London King's Cross with a down express for Edinburgh Waverley, Oct. 11, 1976.

deltic_mt.jpg (95311 bytes)

Class 55. I was lucky enough to be granted a private tour of Doncaster Works in 1975. One of the interesting events was a small building where one of the 2 Napier Deltic engines was being repaired. This view clearly shows how the cylinders were arranged in a triangle.
