Shortly before the Deltics were withdrawn at the start of January 1982 a number of railtours
were run to mark the event one of these being The Deltic Fenman II. This travelled around East Anglia
before ending up on the Nene Valley Railway followed later by a non-stop high speed run back down the East Coast Main Line.
55009 'Alycidon' is seen here at Bishops Stortford in the Autumn of 1981 having made a photographic stop.

Class 55 Deltic locomotive 55009 'Alycidon' at the Rail200 Railfest at the National Railway Museum, York. This magnificent loco had one of the longest queues to view the cab, beaten only by the Pendolino, Eurostar and 'Flying Scotsman'.

55009 'Alycidon' is in the original green livery of the Deltics that had charge of express services on the East Coast Main Line
for almost 20 years from 1961 onwards.
