D1015 'Western Champion' is signal checked just outside London's Victoria station as it successfully completes its weekend charter. The combination of an extremely rare class of loco at this location with the dis-used Battersea Power station in the background gives the picture taken on the 26th June 2005 an almost unreal appearence.

An extremely unusual sight this...a class 52 D1015 at the stops at London's Victoria station on the 26th June 2005. We think that this loco hauled a charter out from here quite recently but other than on that one occassion we wonder if this class of loco has EVER been seen at this terminal before.

This kind of convoy does not happen very often. On the front 45112 is taking 31108, 20227, 37190 and 52013 home after visiting the Mid-Hants Diesel Gala. The Western is appently happier if left running but despite the clag is not actually pushing. The date is May 16th 2005 and the place Kensington Olympia.

v20-d1015-jp.jpg (146526 bytes)

The return of D1015 'Western Champion' to the main line in early 2002 was what many enthusiats had dreamt of happenning. This popular, stylish diesel hyraulic class 52 had last done this back in the mid-1970s. After many years of effort it was well capable of express speeds which on this occassion had brought a charter down from London Paddington to Paignton where it is pictured. The date is April 2002 and we were shortly to enjoy a return journey to the Capital.
