Thanks to Colas, Class 47s have seen a revival on freight workings this year but with two class
66s being added to their fleet recently this is likely to lead to a reduction. The Ford 'Blue Train'
from Spain used to have regular pairs of Rfd class 47s on it 10 or so years ago and I did not think
it ever seemed likely we would see this again but for a while in 2009 we have enjoyed exactly
that when Colas Rail took over from DB. One of the more unusual pairings is seen here at Otford
on the November 7th 2009 with 47739 in Colas livery and 47769 ...that still retains Virgin colours
and is the only main line loco to do so...in charge with characteristic Brush clag having just
set off following being looped on their way to the Capital.
