45043 'THE KING'S OWN ROYAL BORDER REGIMENT' hauls a train of 'Mermaid' side tipping ballast wagons. Sorry about the arty attempt with the foliage :-) Horbury Cutting, 7th June 1982. Colin Baker (lokfuehrer@ntlworld.com)

45001 stands at Birmingham New Street at the head of the 08.20 from York
on 4/2/84. A slight wisp of steam escapes from the boiler safety valve.
This was a regular turn for a steam-heated Peak, and always attracted a
considerable number of bashers. Incidentally, this was shot on Ilford
XP1 film, and is one of the few pictures I have on XP1 that uses its
whole latitude. Most of the others are going to need reprinting on very
hard paper before they'll be worth looking at!

The preserved Peak in Rail Blue seen here in the shed at the Barrow Hill Roundhouse Open Day Event on 10 April, 1999, complete with Not to be moved sign. Barrow Hill Engine Shed Society is at http://www.edge-of-nowhere.demon.co.uk/. I have unfortunately misplaced the loco’s data ~ but I am sure it will be instantly recognised by Peaks experts as one of the few remaining preserved celebrity machines.
