37 197 at Barrow Hill. 7 July, 2010. D h Thomas thomdh@hotmail.com |
Ian Riley's 37197 speeds the 'Cathedrals Express' through Cheshunt on its way to Ely. Having not seen this class 37 before last week we are pleased it has now turned up again!
The loco actually came south from Crewe early this morning to take this train having been called in following the temporary steam ban. Fragonsets 33202 is on the back and
will return the train to London in the evening. The date is 26th August 2003.

Class 37 seen at Doncaster taking a failed LNER 4472 'Flying Scotsman' to the York Railfest, it was a truly filthy afternoon, hence the poor picture.

This loco is privately owned by Ian Riley Engineering and is the only one to carry this livery. We cannot recall 37197 visiting the south east before
so to be in the right place to picture it on its run down from Crewe to Alton is fortunate. In fact as I write it is returning north again! The place is Cholsey on the Great Western Main Line
and the date is August 20th 2003.
