This is an unexpected gain from EWS loosing some freight traffic around London to Freightliner. To provide traction for
a while Freightliner have had to hire in DRS 66s which has led DRS to replacing a 'shed' on the 4L46 Ditton to Purfleet with a pair of
Class 37s . Not only that but for some reason it has now been routed via Stratford instead of taking the Barking Line from
Gospell Oak...no complaints here then! We have taken many pictures from Stratford over the years but this is the first time looking
towards the main station from Platform 11 as 37059 leads 36069 on the last leg of the outward working on the April 18th 2006.

OLD LOCOS STILL GOING STRONG AFTER ALL THESE YEARS.
Some locos that still see main line use in 2008 first took to the rails in the late 1950s or early 1960s making them 40 to 50 years old. Quite remarkable considering they were designed in a very different era. 37038 that first entered service in 1962 as D6738 is one of the oldest original members of the class currently in regular main line use. Now a DRS loco she is seen here on a SERCO Test Train at Upminster on May 1st 2008.

Real trains and not just units still visit Chingford occasionally. Here we see DRS 37069 on the front
of a Serco operated Network Rail Test Train waiting to return to London Liverpool Steet on the 27th of
