33202 in Civil Engineers livery and a class 37 pass Dartford near London on 9 June 1998. This version of the class 33 was built to a narrower loading gauge for use on the Tonbridge - Battle line. It can be seen to be narrower than the class 37 which is built to the standard loading gauge.

A few minutes early for the dash across the Yard, sorry careful progress, and the sun was out, and I was going to be in for one hell of day (heat in a non-aircon office) so I had to take a few shots!

Class 33 seen outside the 'office', well my office is the other side of the side, locomotives are seldom seen on Depot, though sometimes a steam train may take on water. Class 33's were a very 'Southern' engine in their day and were used on the London Waterloo - Weymouth Push-Pull along with REP units. Photographed at Clapham Junction.

A Fragonset Class 33 seen at Clapham Junction, South West Trains have hired a couple of these locomotives for hauling Desiros between test runs, though they tend to be stabled with the units or at Woking. The other locomotive is 'Vampire' and both are named after the De Havilland jet plane of the early 1950's.

This is a rare sighting indeed in these parts...a class 33! Due to the recent dry weather a short-term steam ban has been imposed in the SE. This means diesels have to take over on the 'Steam Dreams Cathedral Express' run to Ely and back. Fragonsets 'Slim Jim' 33202 'Meteor' brings the empty coaching stock past Pudding Mill Lane on its way to London's Liverpool Street station on the 26th August 2003.

As far as we are aware this is a FIRST! A Fragonset class 33 locomotive pictured here at the buffer stops at London's Liverpool Street Station. Class 33s have never been regular visitors to this station, and with the exception of the occassional rail tour you would not expect to see one here. 33202 'Meteor' is slightly narrower than the 33/0's so as to enable it to go through some tunnels that had reduced clearence...hence the nickname 'Slim Jim'. The train is the 'Cathedrals Express' to Ely and the date is the 26th August 2003.
