The livery applied is to promote Tourism in Scotland, although such cars do not run very much with daylight south of the Border... 9th December 2003. P.L.Guillemin (plguillemin@yahoo.fr) |
Interiors of a Mk2 Lounge car used on the Caledonian Sleepers, awaiting departure to the Far North on the London-Aberdeen/Inverness/Fort William.
Those cars were rebuilt from normal Mk2s in the mid-80s by British Rail, in an effort to enhance its Sleeper services. Passengers using seated-accommodation may not access this car. Only those travelling in Sleeping-cars are entitled to this facility, with First Class passengers taking precedence over those travelling Standard Class Sleeper. Although the Lounge looks very much like a Tea Room, it is actually rather a pub on rails... 9th December 2003. P.L.Guillemin (plguillemin@yahoo.fr) |

Club-class Mk2 cars (FO), seen on a Gatwick Express service.
There is only 1 such Mk2 push-pull set still running on Victoria-Gatwick, primarily as a back-up for 460s. Livery is very close to that applied in BR-Intercity days, but for the red stripe, which is slimmer here. London Victoria. 18th August 2004. P.L.Guillemin (plguillemin@yahoo.fr) |
Mk2 First-Class/Buffet car (RFM) of Anglia, seen at London-Liverpool Street, awaiting departure to Norwich.
They offer a buffet service on Anglia flagship service between London and Norwich (outside normal meal hours, when Mk3-TFRBs are diagrammed to offer a full Restaurant service). They also run on the Boat Trains to Harwich International (for Hoek van Holland, The Netherlands).

The rake of Wessex Trains liveried mark 2 coaches stabled in the Up sidings at Westbury station in Wiltshire. These coaches have been used to provide additional capacity in the summer on Bristol Temple Meads to Weymouth Heart of Wessex Line services that are normally operated by Class 150 DMUs. I have not heard anything regarding whether this practice will continue once First take over the franchise and if so whether or not the coaches will be reliveried into the new FGW neon scheme - quite different from the current pink/maroon.
