Mk2 BSO (Brake Standard Open) car seen at London Euston, awaiting departure to the Far North, on the Scotrail Caledonian Sleeper London-Aberdeen/Inverness/Fort William.
These cars were rebuilt in 2000 from normal daytime cars, so as to offer budget seated-accommodation on Anglo-Scotish Sleepers. They have a brake/service compartment (off-pic, on the left). BSO Brake is primarily used on the steep Highland lines to Fort William and Inverness. 8th December 2003. P.L.Guillemin (plguillemin@yahoo.fr) |
Interiors of a Mk2 BSO (Brake Standard Open) car, awaiting departure at London Euston to the Far North, on the Scotrail Caledonian Sleeper London-Aberdeen/Inverness/Fort William.
These cars were rebuilt in 2000 so as to offer budget seated-accommodation on Anglo-Scotish Sleepers. 2+1 seating layout, as on the stillborn Nightstars, but unlike seated-accommodation on the Night Riviera Sleeper operated by First Great Western on London-Penzance. 9th December 2003. Reclinable (yet not sleeperette) seats fitted on seated-accommodation BSO cars on the Caledonian Sleepers of Scotrail between London and Scotland.
Seats are very close to those fitted in First Class on TGV Réseau/Thalys/Eurostar sets or Enterprise cars. Although Scotrail operates Caledonian Sleepers, one can spot the reservation cards of Virgin on top of the headrests... 9th December 2003. P.L.Guillemin (plguillemin@yahoo.fr) |

A loco-hauled carriage in a more pinkish than normal Wessex Trains livery carrying Heart of Wessex line branding. Before I saw this I was not aware that Wessex trains had any rolling stock other than DMUs.
