This single track is the former branch from Fontoy (on the Thionville-Valenciennes lines). Passenger traffic was axed in 1939, while freight went in 1995. Interestingly, this route makes a tight loop to the West, so as to reach the bridge which one can spot in the background, very close to the French-Luxemburgish border. Audun-le-Tiche. 15th February 2007.

Interestingly, a panel still warns against danger inherent to OHLE, whereas this line to Fontoy was de-wired in 1997, in the aftermath of its closure. Audun-le-Tiche. 15th February 2007.

The former branch from Fontoy currently ends in various (disused) sidings, while it is also squatted by various cars of commuters working in Luwemburg, as the official park-and-ride is too cramped... One can spot further right the line from Esch-sur-Alzette and its 25kV catenary. Audun-le-Tiche. 15th February 2007.

Hard to believe that such line used to have a 25kV catenary and would accommodate a susbstantial freight traffic some 12 years ago... Audun-le-Tiche. 15th February 2007.

CFL station of Audun-le-Tiche, where the line from Esch-sur-Alzette terminates.
Whereas RFF still owns and manages this station, it is only served by CFL from Luxemburg, while the Grand-Duchy wholly paid for the re-instatement of passenger traffic in 1992. No wonder that station panels are strictly identical to those of any station located in Luxemburg... Audun-le-Tiche. 15th February 2007.

The "Réseau CFL" panel indeed marks the border between the 2 countries as well as between the 2 infrastructure managers (RFF/CFF), yet no longer indicates a change in rule-books, as that of CFL now applies on the whole of this line. Audun-le-Tiche [Frontière]. 15th February 2007.
