Electric DC unit Z3714, built 1938 by Carel-Fouché and Jeumont-Schneider
as État 23714, one of 20 units, derived from the Budd Pioneer Zephyr of
1934. Equipped with automatic doors, folding footsteps and automatic couplers,
operating on newly electrified lines, they looked very much like a thing of the
future when they were new. Length 40.71 m, weight 74 t, maximum speed 130 km/h.
This unit went out of service in 1983 after more than 4 million km.
