Don't put your hands in the doorjambs! This is a warning from the Paris RATP and RER, to remind passengers not to put their fingers in the doorjambs. This is because the doors can open quickly and an injury may occur to passengers who place their fingers in the doorjambs, as the cartoon rabbit demonstrates. This warning may have been made in the late 1980s or early to mid 1990s. The same warning is used in the M14 in a different layout to be flush with the warning not to use the fold-down seats in crowded conditions. There is another similar warning on RER line C, with a bear- or cat-like animal instead of a rabbit. There is also an older picture of a rabbit sticking his fingers in the doorjambs, but in overalls, supposedly from the 1970's. Taken May 1997. (C) 1997, 2005 Josh Hanz (josh_hanz@hotmail.com) |
