Being part of Batch 4 (2004-2005), this set was ordered primarily to release TGV Réseau sets due for refurbishment and to enhance capacity on Paris-Geneva/Alps/Med and North/Northwest-Southeast.

Yet, it may also run on other duties, as in that morning.
