This locomotive belonged to the 2nd order for Class 6500 (CC 6539-6559), delivered with slow gear (100km/h) and shoes, so as to haul freighters on Chambéry-Modane, where 1.5kV DC was supplied through live-rail from 1925 until 1976... 
<p>
In 1976, shoes were removed, while gear was upgraded to 160km/h.
