Interestingly, this formation conveyed an extra lightweight "unified" DMU trailer. These had originally been ordered to run with X2400s and 2800s, but one could also spot them with other DMUs and even Z7100s...

This unit was part of a fleet of 3: partly declassified in 1973, with original galley removed, yet replaced with a buffet corner.

Whereas the "Silver Arrow" was axed in 1980, Mk2 Jet Trains (RTG) ousted RGP DMUs from Hovercraft Trains in 1981.
