Interiors of an Ambulance/Dorm car (So) of SNCF, seen on Ski Train 5895 Paris Austerlitz-Briançon.
Those cars were built as ambulances, primarily to run on pilgrim services. They are also used as dorms for youth parties at peaks.
While these cars are technically very close to conventional Corail Couchettes cars, they are devoid of air-conditioning.
On that night, this car was used as a Dorm, and its layout was therefore arranged in columns of 3 couchettes.
Conversely, the Ambulance layout features only 2 couchettes per column.
