Steam locomotive museum in Haapamäki. The collection includes (apart from many Finnish steam locomotives) a Russian steam engine. The museum is located next to the museum depot and scrapyard.

Steam locomotive A5 number 58 was built by the Finnish Railways workshop in

Helsinki in 1875. Only 2 were built. It was used for hauling passenger trains in the south of Finland until the 1920s.

Steam shunter B1 number 9 was built by Beyer, Peacock & Co. in the UK in 1868. Nine of the class were built, the last one was withdrawn in 1928. Number 9 is the oldest preserved locomotive in Finland.

Freight steam locomotive C1 number 21 was built by Neilson and Company in 1869. 10 locomotives of this class were built, number 21 was withdrawn in 1926.

Passenger tank steam locomotive class F1 number 132 was built in 1886 by SLM in Switzerland. The class (of 6) operated local passenger trains around Helsinki, Tampere, Turku and Viipuri(Vyborg) until the 1930s.

Steam locomotive for mixed duties G1 124 (later VR class Sk1) was built in 1885 by SLM from Switzerland, as part of an order for 60 locomotives (classes G1, G2 and G4).

Scrapyard of the VR in Haapamäki. The "strategic reserve" of Finland has recently been taken to this scrapyard, where the locomotives are waiting for buyers. This yard is easily accessible for everybody, including railfans!

VR - Finland
No less than 88 llocomotives of classes G3, G5, G10a nd G11 (later VR class Sk3) were built by Tampella between 1892 and 1903. Number 400 (built in 1903) is preserved in the National Railway Museum.

VR - Finland
Heavy freight steam locomotive class Tr2 number 1319 was built in 1947 by ALCO in the USA. VR bought 20 that were originally intended for the Soviet Union. They are the same as the Soviet "E" class steam locomotives of which many are preserved.

VR - Finland
Class Vk3 was originally built as class I3 by Tampella in 1906-1909 (7x). Originally used for local transport, they were used from the mid-1920s as shunters. Vk3 number 489 was withdrawn from active service in 1964 and now on display at the National Railway Museum.
