Again pair of Dv 12 diesel engines in front of Turku main railway station. They
have pulled fast train P 112 from Northern Finland and they will still continue few
kilometers to Turku Harbour station. Just near Harbour station there are two big
ferries waiting passengers to Stockholm/Sweden. Photo taken in Turku/Finland, main
railway station (16th of May, 1998).

Two Dv 12 diesel engines in Turku main railway station. Fast train
P 107 to the north is just about to start it's journey. Starting 1999
there will be no more diesel traction on these fast trains, electrifying
works on line to north (section Turku - Toijala) will be ready then. Photo
taken in Turku/Finland, main railway station (17th of May, 1998).

Two locomotives class Dv12 (and one in the background) shunting in the station
of Haapamäki on 26/06/95. This little village is an Eldorado for railway
fans: it houses a steam locomotive museum and a large (accessible!) scrapyard.
And for the rest really nothing else....

Dv12 2549 is leading a double-headed fast train 567 in Kuohu village, Central Finland. The train had twice as many cars as normally, the reason being midsummer holidays. Note that despite the recent repairs of the rails and fresh gravel the speed limit is only 80 km/h towards Jyväskylä and 100 km/h towards Haapamäki from this location, so the "fast trains" are not that fast on this track. The Kuohu was a station some decades ago and some remnants of the railyard are visible on the right.

The railyard of Jyväskylä in July 1997 during Suolahti Steam Festival. Passenger platforms are covered with smoke from two museum steam locomotives, Hr1 1009 and Hv1 555. Locomotives in the picture of types Dv12 (four near the fueling pump), Dr13 (one on the right with a freight train, the other behind the Dv12's). The yellow vehicle in the middle of the Picture is a Tka7-class rail maintenance vehicle ("rail truck"). The other, barely visible yellow vehicle behind the parked Dr13 is a Tve4-class shunter. The loco in the middle of the railyard is probably a Dv16-class shunter. Photo and scan by Henri Hovi (hemaho@cc.jyu.fi) |
