There is currently one daily service in each direction on Leon-Bilbao, a trip of about 8 hours. These services cross at Mataporquera, where they also meet the standard gauge RENFE line from Madrid to Santander.

Local electric services run from Bilbao to Balmaseda. Beyond Balmaseda, the daily Bilbao-Leon service in the only one. Trainset 2733/2734 has reached Balmaseda from Leon and is now almost at the end of its 8-hour run.

While the railway within the city of Leon is being rebuilt (electrified, put underground, changed into a tram, who knows?) the University station is end point of all FEVE services, with a bus connection to the old station in the city center. Trainset 2734/2733 is ready to leave Leon for Bilbao.

renfe 2713/2714 has entered the station Ferrol and is being refuelled to go to Oviedo, though due to an unforeseen interruption will only make it as far as Ortigueira. This is one of 23 two-car units built 2009/2010 by CAF for feve, which was later integrated into renfe. They could reach 120 km/h but the meter gauge tracks currently allow only 80 km/h (or 100 km/h on a few sections near Santander). 2026-08-14. tobias b köhler
