The Asturias railway museum at Gijón was unexpectedly closed when I came by, so I could only take photos across the fence. Steam locomotive "Santa Barbara No. 111" with hopper wagon. The locomotive was built 1907 by Arnold Jung for Compañía de las Minas de Hierro de Arditurri (750 mm gauge). In 1911 it was auctioned to Fábrica de Mieres, used on the Baltasara line. Around 1960 it received the number 111, in 1967 it was acquired by Hunosa but retired shortly thereafter. In 1990 it was restored for the museum. 2026-08-15. tobias b köhler

The Asturian Railway Museum in Gijon runs a small museum train over the former yard of the Gijon Norte railway station. The gauge is 600mm, and the locomotive was built in France. 04/09/1999. Photo and scan by Marco van Uden

The Asturias railway museum at Gijón was unexpectedly closed when I came by, so I could only take photos across the fence. Narrow gauge saddle tank locomotive SIA 1 of Sociedad Industrial Asturiana Santa Bárbara. Built 1916 by Vulcan Iron Works. It was also used for passenger trains until the mid-1930s. Construída originalmente para Altos Hornos de Vizcaya (¿númeroā), fué vendida posteriormente a Talleres Alegría, de donde procede el nombre que luce. Mueseo Asturiano del Ferrocarril, Gijón. 750 mm. Gauge Orenstein & Koppel nr. 6545 0-2-0 steam locomotive (1913). Originally built for the steel company Altos Hornos de Vizcaya, in unknown date vas built to Talleres Alegría Co., that named the loco as "Alegría". Railways Museum of Asturias, Gijón. 08/08/2010.
