Madrid's Metro – Old station of Chamberi (line 1), now part of the Metro museum.
Old logo; quite similar to the one used nowadays; the only difference is that now you won't find the name of the station, but only the word 'Metro' inside the blue square.
Chamberi is on the line 1 of Madrid's Metro network; trains still pass by but it's been closed for more than 40 years, when the platforms of the whole line were extended to fit 6-car trains. It was too close to the stations in both directions of the line, so it was decided that it would be a waste of resources to extend its platforms having stations that close to it, and closed. It's the only closed station of the network, and in the last few years it was cleaned and restored, becoming part of the Metro interpretation centre.

Original access to the station; nowadays closed, is used as a little cinema where you're shown a short video with the history of Madrid's Metro system.

This is the way they used to show the stations connected from the platform. The system was simple but effective: when a line was extended, they just painted over the old scheme. When more space was required, some tiles were removed and the space was extended to make room for a bigger list.

Corridor on top of the tunnel that links to the platform. The tiles and the lighting reproduce the original one, with bulbs. They were not too bright, and that was one of the reasons to use white tiles on walls and ceilings.

The platform, separated from the tracks with a glass wall. This station is between two stations of Line 1, so trains pass pretty quickly and pretty often. There's no access to the other platform, but it's been cleaned and restored, showing old adds and projected images of both Madrid and its Metro in the old days.

Another view of the platform. It doesn't look too bright, but the white tiles actually do the trick!

Add at the end of the platform; it's quite amazing how was tried to make the Metro attractive to the users by using ellaborate decoration.
