Refurbished Class 448 (448R) of RENFE-Regionales, seen on Catalunya Expres 5072 (Figueres--->Barcelona Sants), at its final destination.
Prior to arrival, the public address system had played a very comprehensive pre-recorded announcement, in Castilian and Catalan, for 50sec.
Original seats have remained, but refurbishment has brought ambience in line with Regionales standards.

Class 448 EMU of RENFE-GL, used on IC 203 (Madrid-Chamartin-->Hendaye, via Valladolid).
Preferente class (54 seats, between the cab and a small Bar-area), with:
• 2+2 seating, as on any pre-Alaris Mainline EMU of RENFE (432 and 444).
In spite of the above, this accommodation looks quite pleasant and comfortable, and remains fairly well-kept. Hendaye. 29th July 2005.

Turista class (80 seats, in the middle trailer), with the same kind of seats as Class 9000 cars. All rows (save 1 at the end) face the direction of travel, thanks to reversible backs. Hendaye. 29th July 2005.

Bar counter, located in the Preferente-class/Cab-car, right next to the middle-trailer (Turista-class). This counter may look basic, but it features the same cafeteria offer as any other daytime RENFE-GL service where Wagons-Lits España operates (Euromed, Alaris, Altaria, radial Talgo, Arco). Interiors of a Refurbished Class 448 of RENFE-Regionales, used on "Catalunya Expres" services.
Under their refurbishment (which began in 2001), Class 448s transferred to RENFE-Regionales only offer Turista-class accommodation. Original seats have remained, but these have been restyled. Overall ambiance has substantially improved, with a brighter, more contemporary aspect, which doubtless makes those EMUs one of the best-refurbished regional fleet in Spain. 2003.
