Estrella "Media Luna" (Irun/Portbou-Algesiras), seen in Zaragoza-El Portillo.
The formation is at a maximum: along with the usual Class 8000 cars diagrammed from both Portbou and Irun to Algesiras, one can also see the 2 UIC-Y Bc9x (2nd-class Couchettes) cars of SNCF/Wasteels running from Paris to Algesiras. These had been conveyed from Paris to Irun on the previous night, using Defunct Express 307 "Iberia"... Zaragoza-El Portillo. 1988. locomotive can reach a speed of 180 kph, and the Talgo Pendular can modify its
gauge and has a passive tilt system that allows it a top speed of 250 kph in
the AVE line between Madrid and Sevilla.
