Class 252 loco heads a TALGO 200 train out of Cordoba for Cadiz and Huelva in August 1997. The train will continue on the international-gauge high speed line to the outskirts of Sevilla, where the coaches will be changed to Spanish gauge for the remainder of their journeys behind Spanish gauge locomotives.

Class 252 (252 004) of AVE-RENFE, seen on Talgo-200 9114 (Madrid Puerta de Atocha-Malaga), upon arrival at Cordoba-Central, at around 09:10am. This loco will remain on duty for a few km, until the gauge-changer of Cordoba-Valchillon.

Class 252 (252 007) of RENFE-AVE (Standard-gauge, 3kV DC+ 25kV-50Hz AC) seen at the gauge-changer (Talgo RD-only) of Cordoba-Valchillon, where the Madrid-Sevilla HSL connects with the Cordoba-Malaga conventional line.
This loco is heading a Talgo 200 service from Malaga (or Fuengirola) to Madrid-Puerta de Atocha. The rear cars are on broad-gauge tracks and are still to pass through the gauge-changer. Apart than Madrid-Malaga Talgo 200 services (of RENFE-AVE), this gauge-changer also accommodates the Madrid-Algeciras Altaria (of RENFE-GL). Pre-2000, the Barcelona-Malaga sleeper through-cars also used it. Up to 10 services use each way this facility on a daily basis. Cordoba-Valchillon. 05th June 2004. The AVE international gauge version of the Renfe class 252 electric locomotive
ready to pull a Talgo 200. This train reaches a top speed of 200 km/h. in the
AVE line, and at Sevilla station the Talgo 200 changes its gauge to allow the
service with Cadiz and Huelva. The photo was taken at Madrid- Puerta de Atocha
station on July the 10th 1996.
