RENFE - Spain Single-ended diesel locomotive 350-002 "Virgen de Aranzazu" is part of a class of 4 built to haul the first series-built "Talgo II" type coaches. With a panoramic coach at the end, the locomotive and cars operated as a trainset. One complete set is on display at the National Railway Museum at Madrid Delicias. Class 350 (350.002, ex-2T, "Virgen de Aranzazu"), seen at Bilbao-Abando, awaiting departure on Talgo 354 to Madrid-Chamartin...
When Talgo II stock quit service in 1972, the 4 locos (1-4T) used hitherto with that fleet were re-formed into 2 pairs, and fitted with Scharffenberg couplers, so that they could haul the daily Talgo III service Madrid<->Bilbao on Miranda de Ebro-Bilbao. Their livery was also adapted to Talgo III standards. Those 2x2 locos had eventually gone in 1976, replaced with newly-delivered Class 269 (and TG1z-111 generators). Bilbao-Abando. August 1975.

Talgo II set of RENFE, hauled with a Class 350 Diesel loco (ex 1T to 4T), seen at Barcelona-Paseo de Gracia (now Passeig de Gracia).
This pic was taken at some time between January 1959 and August 1964, when a Talgo II set served Barcelona, to/from Madrid (3-weekly), running in the afternoon and the evening. This service must be the Barcelona Término (now Estaçió de França)-Madrid Atocha service, seen shortly after its departure, at around 01.30pm. At that time, this station was not fully covered, and enjoyed a welcome daylight. Photo by an unknown author (many thanks, though), from Tranvia.org and perolo.binario.trenes. RENFE Talgo II train with its american-style diesel locomotive, preserved at Madrid Delicias station (National Railways Museum). The cars are very small compared to nowadays Talgos, and the locomotive has been added some windows on its side to see the diesel engine and the electric generator.
