Trenhotel 406 "Francisco de Goya", seen upon arrival from Madrid-Chamartin.

This is a sleeperettes-car (TA6L-631.006).
It was delivered in late-2003, so that Paris<->Madrid and Paris<->Barcelona overnighters would offer (comfortable) seating-accommodation, as had been so on Barcelona<->Zurich/Milan since 1993.

In Iberic internal traffic, sleeperettes are only available on Madrid-Barcelona. Other Trenhotel services offer standard seating-cars.

On all these trains, sleeperettes are marketed as Preferente-class (with 2+1 seating), at fares some 15% cheaper than T4 accommodation.

On Elipsos services, there is only 1 such car (viz. 22 seats) per formation. So, book well in advance!!!.

Trenhotel 406 "Francisco de Goya", seen upon arrival from Madrid-Chamartin.

This car (TA6L-631.006) features sleeperette accommodation (22 seats, arranged in 2+1).
One can notice the "Trenhotel" (rather than "Talgo") labelling, well in line with the new branding policy of RENFE (i.e. no allusion whatsoever to rolling-stock suppliers).

Talgo 4 Sleeperettes-car (TA4L-431.001), seen on Trenhotel 875 "Antonio Gaudi", upon arrival from Madrid-Chamartin.

This car was rebuilt fron a dining-car (TR4-410) in 1993, so as to offer enhanced seating, marketed as 1st-class accommodation.
The "Antonio Gaudi" (Barcelona<->Madrid) is the only domestic Spanish Trenhotel where such accommodation is available (along with conventional 2nd-class seating).

Other domestic services conversely feature conventional seating, often on a single-class basis.

Talgo 4 Sleeperettes-car (TA4L-431.002), seen in the consist of Trenhotel 947/6 "Antonio Machado" (Barcelona Sants ---> Cadiz).

Until 4th December 2005, this fleet would run on defunct Trenhotel 875-874 "Antonio Gaudi" (Madrid Chamartin <---> Barcelona Sants). The demise of that service has displaced those cars to Barcelona-Andalucia.

Unlike more recent (i.e. Talgo 6) sleeperettes-cars (TA6L-631), these cars are not labelled as "Preferente", and conversely display a suggestive logo, with the labelling "Asiento Superreclinable" (viz. "Extra/Super-reclinable seat").
