This is a sleeperettes-car (TA6L-631.006).
In Iberic internal traffic, sleeperettes are only available on Madrid-Barcelona. Other Trenhotel services offer standard seating-cars. On all these trains, sleeperettes are marketed as Preferente-class (with 2+1 seating), at fares some 15% cheaper than T4 accommodation. On Elipsos services, there is only 1 such car (viz. 22 seats) per formation. So, book well in advance!!!.

Talgo 4 Sleeperettes-car (TA4L-431.001), seen on Trenhotel 875 "Antonio Gaudi", upon arrival from Madrid-Chamartin.
This car was rebuilt fron a dining-car (TR4-410) in 1993, so as to offer enhanced seating, marketed as 1st-class accommodation.
Other domestic services conversely feature conventional seating, often on a single-class basis.

Talgo 4 Sleeperettes-car (TA4L-431.002), seen in the consist of Trenhotel 947/6 "Antonio Machado" (Barcelona Sants ---> Cadiz).
Until 4th December 2005, this fleet would run on defunct Trenhotel 875-874 "Antonio Gaudi" (Madrid Chamartin <---> Barcelona Sants). The demise of that service has displaced those cars to Barcelona-Andalucia. Barcelona-San Andreu Comtal. 9th June 2006.

Unlike more recent (i.e. Talgo 6) sleeperettes-cars (TA6L-631), these cars are not labelled as "Preferente", and conversely display a suggestive logo, with the labelling "Asiento Superreclinable" (viz. "Extra/Super-reclinable seat").
