Spanish "Talgo 200" tilting coach set rented to AMTRAK behind an American
diesel locomotive in the station of Portland, Oregon. Amtrak now uses two
sets of coaches between Vancouver in Canada, through Seattle and Portland, to
Eugene. These coaches are owned by RENFE in Spain, but AMTRAK has recently
ordered 3 sets of their own. Photo taken in August 1996.

An Amtrak "Cascades" TALGO train is completing its run from Seattle, Washington to Portland, Oregon. An F40PH diesel locomotive leads one of the two TALGO Pendular 200 SETS brought to the U.S. for evaluation. Their success caused Amtrak and the State of Washington to order five new tilting sets from Pacifica Marine of Seattle, built under license from the Spanish company Patentes TALGO SA. 1996 Photo by Thomas McCann (USA) (mediabymccann@att.net) |
