At the 26'th of may 2006, with an Event called "DSB-døgnet", the Danish state Railways offered extremely cheap all-day tickets for all of Denmark for only 50 kroner (Approx. 6,50 Euro!). The ticket was valid for an unlimited use of all DSB-trains for 24 Hours! This offer was used by very many people, with stuffed trains and delays as a natural consequence ;-) I mainly used the day for going to the Danish Railway Museum in Odense. 1'st generation "S-tog" (used at the electrified Copenhagen suburban network), trailer MM 718.
1. generations S-togsmotorvognen MM 718.

DSB MM 718, first generation of the electric S-Tog in
København. Denmark's first electric mainline was
Klampenborg - Hellerup - Vanløse - Frederiksberg,
opened 1934. The first units operated with two power cars
MM and a middle car FM, later a second middle car was added.
In total 119 power cars (MM) were built 1933 to 1962 by
Frichs, and 95 matching middle cars (FM) by Scandia. Each power
car had four 120 kW traction motors and 76 seats, the length
was 20.2 m, the weight 51 t and the maximum speed 90 km/h.
The middle cars were 20.1 m long, had 93 seats and weighed
35 t. The first generation went out of service in the 1970s,
replaced by newer units.

The very first generation of S-trains in Copenhagen are dating back to 1934. Here are one of the few leftovers in Herlev, 15/5/1999. It was the celebration of the 50th. birthday of electric trains Vanlose-Ballerup.
