DSB MY 1101, built 1954 by Nohab with 16-cylinder diesel engine
GM 567B (1100kW/1500HP). Four traction motors, 1300 km/h,
98.6 t. Regular service until 1986.

DSB MY 1101, side view with old style shadow lettering used
until the 1970s. Though various diesel units had existed
earlier, class MY replaced steam locomotives on locomotive
hauled tmainline trains. DSB decided for the Swedish-built
model AA16 derived from EMD E and F units.

On may 21st 1995 the DSB My 1101 restored to its original brown painting
hauled a special for the members of the Railway Museum support group.
My 1101 under a roadbridge north of Naestved. The white disc was only used to signal the train as an extra until 1975, and should not be used together with headlights during daytime wich is a much later safety requirement. hjelme@worldonline.dk |
