DB AG overhead work car (DR type) in Dresden Hbf.
Summer 1999.

This is probably the simplest imaginable rail vehicle - a frame, four
wheels, and a brake. It is used to support a ladder, for works on the
overhead wire, and can be easily lifted out of the track. Note also the
old signal tower, signal and water cranes in the background.

Catenary works in Horrem (on Cologne-Aachen) on 16 December 2001. The catenary
is built while the track is still partly missing. So the work train with the
drums of wire is parked at the end of the track, and the contact wire is pulled
into place by a skylift that can operate from another track, too. A second
skylift assists near the train. The brackets are equipped with pulleys for this
operation. The messenger wire is already in place.

inserts the wire into the pulley that was attached for this operation. The

tire-based skylift standing on a flatcar. It is moved by a dual mode excavator
hidden by the bridge.

Catenary works between Buir and Merzenich (on Cologne-Aachen) on 20 April 2002.
The catenary seems to be more or less finished. This is one of the smallest
powered rail vehicles I've ever seen.

A catenary work vehicle consisting of a frame with four wheels and a ladder,
seen in Sindorf (on Cologne-Aachen) on 5 September 2001. The ladder can be
extended (on the right side) and shifted sidewards. Note the two brakes and the
handlebars to lift the vehicle onto the track. Next to it are some parts for a
bracket which will be attached to the new mast visible in the picture.
