DB Netz (?) 60 80 99-26 250-3 Wohnwerkstattwagen. The origins of this car may be at the beginning of the 20th century when most trains were composed of two or three axle cars. A lot of those cars (including the well-known three-axle compartment cars of Prussia) survived the second world war when there was a shortage of rolling stock that could not be satisfied with new cars, so the decision was taken to produce unified three and four axle "rebuilt cars" on the underframes of the old rolling stock from 1955. Those remained in service until around 1980, but a lot found a "third life" - rebuilt again into workshop cars with sleeping compartments for trackbuilding crews. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s they could be found on the sidings of many stations, then most were scrapped. One pair still can be found in Weil am Rhein, mostly with preserved 1970s/80s inscription. 2011-09-29.
