Measuring car 63 80 99-91 004-1 seen at the rear end of a train
waiting at Aachen Hbf on 8 January 2007. It is labelled with "Fahrwegmessung"
("track system measuring"), "RAILab 1" and "DB Netz Instandhaltung" ("DB
Netz maintenance", DB Netz is the part of the DB group which is responsible for
the railway network). For some reason the diesel-engine with alternator built in
at this end of the car (note the air intake) was running, although the loco
103 184-8 at the head of the train should be able to deliver a lot of
electricity to the cars. The other car is 63 80 99-94 025-3 (with
a cab at the far end).
