Tramcar 2326 of the Kölner Verkehrsbetriebe (KVB) seen at the depot at Wesseling on 6 May 2006. On this weekend the centenary of the so called Rheinuferbahn Cologne-Wesseling-Bonn was celebrated, note the special livery with the URL www.100-jahre-rheinuferbahn.de. This line was operated electrically from the beginning (in 1906) on, by the private Köln-Bonner Eisenbahnen (KBE). In 1978 the passenger service was taken over by tramcars of the KVB and the Stadtwerke Bonn (SWB), while the infrastructure is now owned by the Häfen und Güterverkehr Köln (HGK, note the logo on the tramcar), which also operates freight trains on it's own lines and on DB lines. The name Rheinuferbahn translates as "Rhine bank railway" and relates to the alignment of the line which follows the Rhine closely.
